The BCC Welcomes new Director of Strategic Communications

October 6, 2026 – The Baltimore Convention Center has announced the appointment of Denise Dixon-Cooper as its new Director of Strategic Communications, a newly established leadership position within the organization. Cooper joined the BCC in late September and will lead the venue’s newly established Marketing Department, marking the first time the department has operated as a separate entity within the organization.

The creation of the Director of Strategic Communications role reflects the Baltimore Convention Center’s continued efforts to strengthen its brand, expand its visibility and more strategically communicate the facility’s impact on Baltimore and the region. As the BCC looks toward its future, including continued advocacy for investments in the venue’s infrastructure, the position will play an important role in shaping how the organization communicates with its employees, clients, media, industry partners, government leaders and the surrounding community.

As Director of Strategic Communications, Denise will oversee the BCC’s strategic marketing and communications efforts, including brand management, internal and external communications, media relations, digital communications and community and stakeholder engagement. She will also provide leadership to the Digital Content and Brand Manager, develop strategic communications and marketing plans, advise executive leadership on communications and messaging, and support the organization’s legislative and industry affairs efforts.

Cooper brings more than 15 years of marketing and communications experience to the Baltimore Convention Center. She previously served as Director of Strategic Communications and Events for Innovation Works and as Chief Brand Strategist and CEO of her own consulting firm. Her work has focused on strengthening organizational visibility, developing brand strategy and creating meaningful connections between organizations and the audiences they serve.

Reflecting on what this new role means for the organization, Executive Director Mac Campbell, CVE, said, "This is an exciting step for the Baltimore Convention Center. Establishing a dedicated Marketing Department allows us to bring greater focus to our brand, our communications ,and how we share the story of the venue and its impact on Baltimore. "
