Baltimore, MD (July 8, 2025) — The Baltimore Convention Center (BCC) is proud to announce the latest milestone in its comprehensive technology transformation, marking the completion of major infrastructure upgrades designed to elevate the client and visitor experience. This phase expands on the transformative partnership with Cox Hospitality Network, originally
announced in October 2024, with new capital enhancements that further solidify the Center as a future-ready venue equipped for today’s highest-performing events.
Working in partnership with Hospitality Network, the BCC has now completed a full-scale overhaul of its network and communications systems, including the installation of:
- 220 Cisco Wi-Fi 6 Access Points, doubling previous coverage to deliver seamless, tri-band connectivity across exhibit halls, meeting spaces, pre-function areas, lobbies, and now, the outdoor patio.
- 45 Cisco 9000 Series Switches installed in 12 newly created distribution locations, increasing reliability, speed, and scalability throughout the building.
- 3Gbps redundant fiber circuits, burstable to 10Gbps, ensuring high-capacity bandwidth and uninterrupted performance during even the most data-intensive events.
- Two additional miles of SM fiber and 11 miles of Cat6 Ethernet cabling, enhancing connectivity to key operational zones and enabling high-density usage throughout the facility.
Additionally, the BCC has upgraded its building-wide phone system to a modern VoIP solution from PhoneSuite, replacing a decades-old system with a scalable, wireless-ready communications platform that supports both administrative operations and client event needs anywhere on the venue’s campus.
With this round of enhancements, the Hospitality Network’s total capital investment to date stands at $1.13 million, yielding a retail value of $3.9 million in upgraded infrastructure and service delivery. The combined improvements position both the BCC and Hospitality Network as leaders in connected events, capable of supporting everything from international conventions and hybrid summits to tech expos and large-scale meetings.
“These upgrades aren’t just about new technology – they’re about delivering a better experience for our clients and their guests at every touchpoint,” said Mac Campbell, Executive Director of the Baltimore Convention Center. “Thanks to our forward-thinking partners at Hospitality Network, we’ve been able to establish systems that truly elevate how people connect and communicate in our space. From stronger Wi-Fi to flexible, building-wide communication tools, these improvements are designed with our clients in mind, so every event here feels seamless, supported, and set up for success.”
“The recent enhancements at the Baltimore Convention Center highlight our continued commitment to delivering modern infrastructure and innovative technology solutions to our clients,” said Jady West, Vice President of Hospitality Network. “Equally important, our dedicated onsite support team and intuitive client portal help streamline order management and ensure smooth, successful events. As venues across the East Coast embrace modernization, we’re proud to support the Baltimore Convention Center in standing out as a premier, tech-enabled destination for events of all sizes.”
Other Key Benefits of the Upgraded Systems Include:
- Seamless, high-speed internet access across all indoor and outdoor spaces;
- Low-latency, high-capacity networking built to support streaming, cloud applications, and real-time collaboration;
- Secure, flexible communication via a modern IP-PBX phone system;
- Scalable infrastructure ready to meet future technology demands with minimal disruption.
The upgrades are complemented by 24/7 monitoring and a dedicated on-site Hospitality Network support team, ensuring uninterrupted service, quick response, and reliable connectivity for every event.
With these enhancements complete, the Baltimore Convention Center continues to lead the way in providing a technologically advanced, customer-focused environment that meets the demands of an ever–evolving industry.
