Chef Josh Distenfeld

Executive Chef Josh Distenfeld has exhibited a passion for the culinary arts for over 35 years. From his beginning as a dishwasher, Chef Josh has had a hands-on experience with all aspects of food and beverage operations in hotels, restaurants and entertainment venues. Chef Josh’s creativity and passion for cooking throughout his career has served thousands.

Chef Josh has earned numerous accreditations from the Culinary Institute of America, New York and the American Culinary Federation. He was awarded the title of Certified Executive Chef in 2004. His successful culinary assignments have included food and beverage programs in excess of $50 million dollars for Harrah Entertainment, Inc. and as District Chef/Executive Chef at the Baltimore Oriole’s Camden Yard. In his role as Executive Chef, Chef Josh has been able to control and reduce costs while improving quality and customer satisfaction.

Chef Josh respects quality ingredients and supports efforts to reduce the impact of food service operations on the environment. Chef Josh will engage local farmers and vendors to showcase regional ingredients in an effort to provide diners with the freshest products available. These regional ingredients will allow the culinary team to exercise their creativity and provide Center attendees with a taste of the region.

His passion and commitment to the industry is evident as Chef Josh will continue to build and cultivate new culinarians. Chef Josh’s stated philosophy is “Cultivating and building a culinary team is crucial to the success of the business and one’s own destiny. I surround myself with chefs who are strong, talented and have voracious appetites to learn, grow and become the best they can be. You are only as good as the people who you surround yourself with. In the end, it comes down to customer service and that’s why we are all here. To cook and showcase your food is the ultimate satisfaction and the complete gratifying aspect that I was always meant to be a Chef.”

Chef Josh Distenfeld’s passion and experience is a welcome addition to the Baltimore Convention Center and Centerplate teams.
