Meet The Center's New Directors

BALTIMORE MD – The Baltimore Convention Center welcomes three new Directors. Ethan Lang, Director of Facilities and Engineering, Keith Runk, Director of Public Safety, and Jennifer Guevarra, Assistant Director of Convention Services joined the team following the retirement of Rob Parker the Center’s former Director of Facilities, Engineering & Public Safety, and in response to the promotion of Tyler DeBella who served as the venue’s former Assistant Director of Convention Services.
Ethan Lang began his new role on May 8th, bringing years of experience in engineering and operations. Before joining the Center’s team, he worked for numerous corporations including The Laz Parking & Maintenance Systems as an Assistant Director, Sports Turf Specialties as the Operations Director and Project Manager, and his most recent role at Columbia-Greene Community College where he served as Assistant Director of Buildings. Ethan has a certification in FEMA Special Event Evacuation Training as well as Venue & Building Risk Management Training. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Western New England University and is currently working on obtaining a Master of Science in Business Administration from the State University of New York at Oswego.

As Director of Facilities and Engineering, Ethan will be responsible for many aspects of the venue’s infrastructure including plant operations, project planning, energy efficiency, and more. When asked what this new chapter in his career means to him, he responded “The best experiences of my career have been in public assembly facilities and being able to return to that avenue and advance my career in my home state and a city I love is something I am extremely excited about. The ability to be part of a team that provides lasting memories and experiences for those who walk through the door and visit the city of Baltimore is the most rewarding part of this line of work.”.
Keith Runk stepped into his new title as Director of Public Safety on June 8th sharing his knowledge in policing, investigations, operations, and more. He brings over 30 years of related experience and graduated second in his class at the Maryland State Police Academy. Along with managing public safety operations, Keith is skilled in safety training and has led emergency management classes such as the Governor’s Active Shooter Safety Education Training and Bomb Threat Management Training. He holds a Bachelor of Criminal Justice from Towson University along with a Federal Police Officer Certification.

As the Director of Public Safety Keith will be responsible for overseeing the Center’s security including leading the organization’s Department of Public Safety, being a liaison for the Baltimore Police Department, and working with external event security companies to ensure client shows are properly protected. When starting his role Keith stated “I spent most of my youth being raised in Baltimore City. I never lost touch with my hometown even when I moved away. During my career, I worked in all areas of the state as well as the city. I was fortunate to be able to have worked in a job that I loved and that has prepared me for this new opportunity. I will always strive to make our convention center safer for our clients, staff, and all who may visit us.”.
Jennifer Guevarra started working for the Baltimore Convention Center in early April, jumping right into her leadership role in event services. She brings over 20 years of sales and event management skills including working for notable venues such as Marriott hotels, Las Vegas Sands, and the M&T Bank Stadium, home to the NFL Baltimore Ravens. Her previous positions in the hospitality industry consist of Director of Corporate Sales, Senior Director of Premium Services, and most recently, Vice President of Business Development and Sales. She has experience managing departmental budgets, event services, sales leads, and leading a Sales & Event Services team.

Jennifer will be responsible for supervising the Center's team of Convention Services Managers and coordinating client event needs such as audiovisual, catering, and electrical services. She will also work closely with the Center’s Department of Operations for event setups and breakdowns. Jennifer is excited to join the team and stated “The BCC is the perfect fusion of my old and new hometowns! I recently moved from Las Vegas, where hospitality is the pinnacle of the local economy. Blending that experience with the love I have for Baltimore; is the best way I can infuse passion into my work. I look forward to becoming more steeped in Baltimore traditions while applying all I’ve learned throughout the years of providing excellent hospitality service!”.
