Baltimore Convention Center Bids Farewell to Esteemed Partner Sodexo Live! as it Names New Exclusive Food and Beverage Provider

Baltimore, March 20, 2024 - After a meaningful and successful partnership with current Food & Beverage provider, Sodexo Live! the Baltimore City Board of Estimates has confirmed that the exclusive catering contract has been awarded to Levy who will begin operations in July 2024.
During this transition time, the Baltimore Convention Center team would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Sodexo Live! for their culinary expertise, their unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional experiences for visitors and guests as well as for the impact they have made on the Convention Center and the local community in Baltimore City.

Sodexo Live! has been an integral part of the BCC’s journey since December of 2009, contributing significantly to the success of events for contracted clients and their attendees. Sodexo Live!’s curated approach to hospitality are on display daily. Whether it be 12,000 guests dining on local Maryland Crab Cakes, Taharka Bros ice cream and Berger Cookies at Governor Wes Moore’s Inaugural Ball or the complete overhaul of the concession program’s menu to provide authentic Chinese dishes such as Char Siu and Congee for the North American Chinese Invitational Volleyball Tournament, the creativity and versatility of Sodexo Live!’s team seems to have no end.

Sodexo Live! embraced its responsibility as a member of the Baltimore City community early on, stepping up as a signature sponsor for The Journey Home Gala for eight years and participates annually in charitable campaigns that benefit residents including food donations to the Goodwill, MD Food Bank, holiday drives to benefit Toys for Tots and the Ronald McDonald House as well as the Stop Hunger Big Soup event that culminated in 120 gallons of soup donated to Paul’s Place and Helping Up Mission. These efforts in part led to the company receiving recognition in 2017 and 2019 as a Mayor’s Business Recognition Award winner. Sodexo Live! leadership has also actively served on the Baltimore Convention and Tourism Board for over a decade and currently chairs the Visit Baltimore Foundation Board focusing on creating meaningful experiences for Baltimore youth in the hospitality industry.

Food waste reduction is an important focus at the BCC and Sodexo Live! has partnered to create and implement new sustainability initiatives to achieve certain milestones. In 2019 the Sodexo Live! (then Centerplate) team partnered with the BCC with funding from the World Wildlife Fund to publish a white paper on food waste reduction strategies in convention centers. The white paper gained widespread acclaim as it was selected to be a topic of its own session at the 2020 PCMA Convening Leaders conference.

“From the moment I joined the BCC in 2012, Sodexo Live! has been tireless in their efforts to please not only us as their client, but every last one of our customers and their guests. Regularly going above and beyond to entrench themselves in our city through any number of volunteer initiatives, they have always backed up promise with action. The entire BCC team commends their professionalism, creativity, and high standards. They truly have set the bar high in which we will continue to build upon.” Mac Campbell, Executive Director, Baltimore Convention Center.
