The ideal of environmental design plays an important role in Green Matters at the Baltimore Convention Center. August of 2010 marked the completion of the 27,000 square foot green roof, a unique outdoor space designed with functional sustainable principles in mind.
Inside our facility the green design esthetic is seen in the construction of our lobbies with floor to ceiling glass windows, that not only provide beautiful views of our surrounding area, but also permit the use of natural light to illuminate the common areas of the building.
New projects include a complete restroom renovation that will incorporate water reduction fixtures, reducing our water consumption by 25%. Other future projects include solar panel placement and a re-design of our entire lighting system that will reduce the amount of carbon, sulfur, nitrogen dioxide and mercury we release into the atmosphere.
